Generators are your most important block although there's not a lot you can do with them, they're the most idle block in the game and are essentially the definition of a set and forget block. You place your generator on a green "fuel node" and it starts producing energy simple as that. There are still some mechanics you can abuse to make better use of them though so let's get into them. QUICK ENERGY To get your energy slightly faster than your opponent you should have a connection to what you want to power before placing the gen, in other words, your gen should be the last thing you place to provide power to something. Why should you do this? Well, it takes advantage of a mechanic in the game where a generator will produce energy instantly when it's placed but if that energy can't go anywhere it gets lost. So if you place your generator last then it will instantly produce an energy ball for you instead of waiting 2.5 seconds. A common and powerful use of this tactic is for sniping enemies with lazers. If there's an unpowered lazer next to a green fuel node you can place a generator on the fuel node and instantly power the lazer. This has an insane surprise factor and if your opponent is in the way and doesn't react in time it could be game winning. A very powerful technique indeed... RETREATING Generators are a valuable block and letting them get destroyed is never good. This is why you should retreat generators if they get low on health. Here for example, Red should remove that generator from it's position to prevent it being destroyed, retreating generators before destruction saves energy and also allows you to have a spare block that you can use to quickly gain a position somewhere. Here Red has just destroyed Blue's gen on the top row with his lazer, normally he would have to walk all the way back to his base to start building generators there and risk blue blocking some of the spots with walls but because he saved his generator Red can instead use that which is much closer.
